They were over the counter and marine applications. They were pre production GT40 heads before the GT40's came out in 93. The Explorer heads were all GT40P's.

Are these the same ports and chambers as the F1ZE-AA? I know that AA have GT40 cast on them, but otherwise I think they're identical to the BB. If that's true, it may be worth asking NHRA to approve them. It's a suggestion which I'm sure won't sit well with some folks.

Someone told me that the F1ZE-AA head has larger valves than the F1ZE-B head.

The -AA come with 1.84/1.54 valves.
The throats on a set I have measured 1.64"/1.27", which would give you a 92% intake throat and a 87.5% exhaust throat when using 1.780"/1.450' valves. In other words, you'd need to change the intake seats because the throat's too big. A 92% throat will work, but 88%-90% is where you want to be for a stocker. You'd also have to sink the exhaust valve, but there's enough material on the seats to keep the throat at 88-89%. Depending on how much you have to sink them, you may be better off replacing all seats in the heads.

Bret, I am confused. The F1ZE-B is an approved cylinder head, but the blue print spec. shows valve size to be 1.782"
