From what I read, the dems don't want to take this to the floor for a vote. This all about posturing for 2024 because abortion funding is in the bill. So good old ??? Didn't get his military promotion even though he had time in grade and time in service. Sorry...Thousands and thousands were victims of democrat supported affirmative action. That is a union mentality and faulty. Did I ever mention that I was a registered lobbyist in New Mexico (as a registered Democrat) and a lobbyist in Texas as a registered Republican. (4 years total) I'm sure you realize that has no influence on how you vote. This is not intended to communicate that I'm smarter.....it is to let you know that most bills are not what they appear on the outside and carry baggage intended to hurt the other party or help your party in future votes.

Randy, Have you ever thought about being in the military service or even understanding how it works. All the "flavor of the day" psycho babble BS goes away when the first incoming round is fired. When you see your buddy mangled and bloody, you don't care what nationality or ethnicity they are. I spent 24 years in the Marine Corps and spent 8 years with the Navy SEALS. I have observed the training of both and they are the same kickass organizations that they were in 1972 when I stepped on those yellow foot prints. This bill is not about funding abortions, the military has provided funding for travel to hospitals and clinics that provide services that a given base cannot. Example: I was stationed at 29 Palms, CA, the base has a clinic that families cannot use, we had to travel to Camp Pendleton 2.5 hours. The government paid for my travel, the same is true if we had needed Planned Parenthood service, these clinic are not just about abortions they provide services to women for health care like birth control, STD tests, pelvic exams, cancer screenings, and pregnancy-related services. As you know some states have closed/banned these services. So where do they go for those services if the base doesn't have it and the state doesn't.


My wife worked for the lobbyist representing the IBEW/NECA for 10 years. Both party (Dems/Rep) members are leeches, "can I get tickets to the Kings game, can we use the lobbyist's box seats, can I get a little contribution to push this bill through" and it goes on and on!

Tuberville has held up more than 250 military promotions and nominations in the Senate since March in protest of the Pentagon’s policy to offer paid leave and reimburse service members who travel across state lines to obtain an abortion.

After the head of the Marine Corps officially retired lack week, the branch has been left without a confirmed leader for the first time in more than ..... “And Sen. Tommy Tuberville is playing right into their hands, playing political games with our national security.”

“And not one Republican in Congress will stand up to him and let our troops keep us safe,” it said.

OK , this is my Conservative view. The liberals will not remove the clause in the bill to fund female soldiers to cross state lines to have an abortion. Therefore holding up hundreds of Marine promotions. All the liberals need to do is remove funding abortion and the promotions are done. Easy enough. But noooooo, blame a republican to vote for a pro abortion bill..... stupid fight for the democrats, IMO, take the abortion crap out, promote those deserving and fight the abortion funding another day (that they can't win)
Ed, this reminds me of the Bud Light situation. (Right or wrong). Bud Light attempted to appease such a small portion of their consumer base and that was stupid. Democrats are holding up the bill for such a small number of female military. My advise to Tubberville is keep doing what you are doing. I'm sure he ran on a "pro life" platform. If he would cave in to liberals now his political career would be over. My advise to democrats is drop abortion from the bill and live to fight another day.

I might be missing your point. The bill in question refers to "paid leave and travel expenses" for an abortion...not medical expenses

Planned Parenthood clinics are not just for abortions but women health issues. Paid leave for dependents? I processed travel for families in Kodiak because there was only a clinic and they didn’t take TriCare, I never asked why they were going to Anchorage for, none of my business. TRICARE covers abortions only when: The pregnancy is the result of an act of rape or incest. TRICARE is for family members not active duty.
