On March 22nd, Chevrolet confirmed that the Camaro will no longer be produced after the 2024 model year. I wonder if they will still produce the COPO after 2024. The last time the Camaro was discontinued, it lasted only 8 years. Maybe if transformers decides to make a new movie for 2032, they'll debut a 7th generation Camaro. With dodge discontinuing the Charger and Challenger past 2023, it seems like we'll have a situation similar to the mid 2000s where Ford has a hold on the modern muscle car market.

Being a Mopar and muscle car fanatic fanatic, I would rather they be honored in retirement than dishonored as an electric vehicle. They've had a long run and are plentiful and I'd rather they die through attrition and leave the rest to eventually/possibly become collector cars. My SRT8 392 Stick Challenger, C4 Corvette and Slammed Ram single cab shortbox will all be going to each kid of mine. They will be excellent caretakers!

I would say we are back to 1972 and the demise of the original Pony cars. The Mustang Mach E is a good example of dishonoring the brand for sure.

"The final sixth generation Camaros will come off the assembly line at the Lansing Grand River Assembly Plant in Michigan in January 2024."
That's not a typo, the 2024 model year production will end in January! That will be a vey short production run, I would guess on purpose, as an incentive to collectors. There is also talk of expanding the Corvette marque to include an EV and an SUV....Blasphemy! |
