I'm very happy to see this. It should be the norm...

I had the same issue as you round one. Sorry you had a bad experience here in D2. I have been racing D2 for a long time and I can count on one hand the amount of times I have had traction problems at a D2 division race in recent years. . I don’t think it is a sign of the times. I don’t know if most know that SGMP is in the process of being sold so that could have had something to do with the lack of track prep. When I staged during round one I did not see any visible issues with the track. I was surprised when I spun and was a tenth off on my 60 ft time.

Am I missing something, but Marion Stevenson had a bye run in the 4th rd and then another bye in the semifinals. How is that possible and why doesn't the ladder get corrected so that there aren't any double byes? I have nothing against Marion, he's just racing the way NHRA tells him to.

I believe if you are #1 qualifier you could get two byes if there is say a 33 car field, it would go 33,17,9,5,3. Tom

I think it was 1995 At Bristol I had first round bye for number 1 qualifier and then I had another bye in the semifinals I can’t remember how many cars. So I ran Jim Reynolds in the final and won but dropped a valve at the finish line. Had to be towed to scales and winners circle. Was just my day I guess.

The ladder is set after qualifying. Referring to my original Bernie Cunningham "Bonza" ladder book, number 19 qualifier in a 65 car field is slated to receive two laddered byes in eliminations. The ladder never changes after qualifying. This is where placing yourself comes in handy with one of the books!
