I’m starting to think that when the people at NHRA that make these decisions are asking for everyone’s thoughts they latch on to the worst idea and go with it. I mean who In their right mind looks at Dallas and says yea that a good place for the Allstar race. Even most people/racers in D4 hate that DUMP in Dallas. The pits are terrible, and it will rain at some point, so it’s doomed from the get-go. I’m not even going to go into the terrible logistics for 85% of the people who are lucky to be the rep for there class and division. Extra travel days to and from and the added fuel costs. The only part of this that makes any sense at all is its in Oct and all the points meets but Vegas are completed
I mean its not that hard. I though about it for 5 mins and came up with ideas better than them.
Make St louis fall national event a 4 day race
Move it back to Chicago (maybe that's the plan for 2024)
Move it back to Columbus SPORTS NATIONALS. A sportsman show cased event (according to NHRA LOL)
Move it to Topeka. (But its to hot in July/Aug in Topeka. Get over it its hot from July- labor day everywhere)

X2 St Louis National makes perfect sense right on the edge of D3 and D5

Maybe make it in a different division each year. That would be fair. If you don’t want to go then the next person in line gets the spot. Don’t the contestants get some travel money to attend.

I'm sure Keith or Austin can chime in on this as I know Keith has been to Chicago & Indy but, I don't think the travel money is much. Different divisions would be cool but, think the distance might be a little too much for some guys, Definity would be a bucket list for many, D6 going out to Epping or D1 going to Sonoma.

I think I got around $255 to go to Chicago , I think Iggy said he got around $275 the following year .He had 55 more miles.
I can tell you it wasn't enough to pay for the repairs needed on the motorhome after crossing the Indiana turnpike !!

Lets see
San Francisco to Joliet 2108 miles
New York to Joliet 802 miles

San Francisco to Indy 2258 miles
New York to Indy 709 miles

San Francisco to Dallas 1733 miles
New York to Dallas 1537 miles

the farthest from both coast

Seattle to Dallas 2107 miles
Maine to Dallas 2000 miles

There is nothing central about Indy or Joliet, the west coast racers have been traveling 2x the distance as the east coast racers for years. Dallas is about a perfect central location and the west coast racers will still have a 10% longer drive

The pits are better in St Louis and Topeka. Topeka in the fall was a good race.

Why not put it somewhere in the same Division as the previous year's overall winner. Add more incentive to winning it and keeping it closer to home for the winners so to speak.

Mebbe incentive is a dirty word to the NHRA. Who knows?

Works for me. It either needs to be at Ennis or Topeka to be central for most of the country. Just curious how many of you folks that are doing the griping have actually been there for that race. It’s been years for us but the 28hrs from San Antonio sucked. I can’t imagine coming from California or south Florida. Should have been placed more central years ago

How would anybody “gripe” about a facility they’ve never been to? I’ve been there and the descriptions are spot on! The track, starting line area and concessions area are nice, the pits are a dump! I commented on a different thread, how can you have the most prestigious sportsman race at a track owned by someone who obviously hates sportsman racing, as is blatantly evident by the condition of the sportsman pits???
