I thought it was to keep from spilling it on my pants!
James in Columbus this year they did fuel check for all the stockers after a time trial. I was in line for at least 10 min. Mine along with several others didn't check. They let us pull a sample from our fuel cell and go to the front of the line. Mine along with others passed.

bubski may be an *** but if you guys think that some aren't playing with fuel you are naive. The Pro Stockers weren't the only ones that got caught with nitous. Anyone remember the Super Stocker that got caught with it in his fire extinguisher? Blew his hatch back off. How many remember one of the fuel companies that sold an additive right at the track that would pass fuel check. 007 BP

Frank, Bubski should do a big reveal and let us know who he is. Talk normal stop acting like and ***. Maybe his post would get some respect. He has had some valid points. Not all but some.
A few years back I had two brothers now retired from stock tell me they used a company in NJ that blended fuel that was better than VP and would pass off as VP. They each had their own car. They seemed to disappear from the stock scene. At Indy one year one of their cars was picked for the barn. To their surprise they asked for a piston and rod. One of the brothers told me they were not going to pass. I laughed to myself because I already knew that. His car sounded more like a comp car in the water box. Without saying their names he had a gorgeous corvette.

Indy this year if you had a dry ice stand you could have made a bunch of money. I saw more dry ice going into fuel cells than I have ever seen there. BP

The cool thing about this forum is that I am learning more about how to cheat than I knew was possible. Sounds like fun....

My understanding that the reason we keep our hand over the fuel cup is that the sun could have an effect on it during that 40 foot walk from the car to the tester. Seems kinda dumb but I'm ignant so I can say this kind of stuff.

Does anybody know what kind of advantage in terms of ET an illegal fuel has vs. a legal fuel.(because I don't). In other words, what is the risk/reward of that type of cheating. I'm too fat to hide nitrous in my jacket so I need some fresh ideas.

One purpose for covering the cup is to contain the light ends that evaporate from the fuel when exposed to atmosphere. [https://grassrootsmotorsports.com/ar...oline-it-ages/

Put a cup of race fuel in the sun and see how long it takes to totally evaporate. Ever notice when you spill race fuel on the ground, it's gone about as quick as it hits the ground.
