While the car is away, I've been slowly pecking away at trying to get organized and cleaned up. One issue with a build like this is trying to not lose small stuff while the car is in the body shop. Ran over to Home Depot last week to pick up some inexpensive totes for the small hardware. Still feels like a mess with stuff sitting everywhere.

Careful Todd, every time I clean up my shop where it won't look like a bomb exploded in it, it takes me a month to un-organize it so that I can find everything......

All the aluminum pieces are back from the anodizers. One more small step forward.

Body work continuing at the body shop. Will post pics once there's something to show.

So the guys at the body shop have been pretty busy working on straightening this poor beat up body. The front end and doors are done and in primer. The roof and quarters are done on the main body, just need to do a little smoothing to the shock towers, cowl and passenger rocker and the main body was planned to be in primer today.

If the body gets primered today, there's a good chance it will get sent home yet this week. This is to allow the materials to cure for 3 weeks then back to the shop for block sanding and paint. So hopefully the car may be in color around the end of the year/beginning of 2022. Hard to say with the holidays.

The last few weeks I've spent some time looking at and trying to decide on a paint color. Last weekend drove to a dealer to see a color thinking it was the one and once I saw it in person decided it wasn't.

The body shop is owned by two brothers who are good customers of ours at my work. They specialize in Porsche repairs and restoration as well as many other high end European cars. I'm gonna post some of the choices I've narrowed down to and they are all Porsche colors as with an online search I discovered they have used well over 100 variations of blue over the years. One web page (in German) shows every color Porsche has ever used showing the color name, paint code, years it was used, what models it was used on and even sample pics. Found it very helpful.

Anyway, I'd decided on a blue in the silver/blue family. Really wanted to stay on the lighter end to keep some contrast with the factory flat black GT hood stripe, blacked out headlight buckets and the oem wrap around GT body moldings and trim. My inspiration for this was the original Ford Mustang GT Light Regatta Blue which was a nice color although kinda blah if you ask me. Wanted something similar, but slightly different.

Anyway, here's the choices in no particular order. Pretty sure I know which one I'm leaning towards, but also want to see a sample in person to be sure.
