For those coming from the East to Indy for the Nationals:
There is major construction between mile marker 123 and 109 in Indiana that affects both east and westbound traffic. The exit in between (mm 115 - Knightstown) is closed. Currently the westbound traffic moves over to the eastbound side. Major backups are not uncommon. There are plenty of signs warning of potential stoppages. This is not a short term project as the westbound lanes in some spots were down to the roadbed. The posted detour is not bad at all. Going West, you exit at mm 123 (Spiceland) and go South to SR 40, then West. SR 40 is mostly divided highway with 55 mph speed limits except through a couple towns. You rejoin I-70 at mm 109 (Mount Comfort) after a short stint back North (detour is well marked). I know a lot of racers who got caught in sizeable backups a few weeks ago going to and from the Indy Points Meet. We were lucky and made it through going West around 10:00 am Thursday but at the same time saw a 3 mile backup eastbound. We took the detour on the way home. Others who live East and North sought alternate routes - coming across the Ohio turnpike and then down I-69 to Indy. This has been a public service announcement...don't shoot the messenger!
