Suppose we accept S and SS are performance based classes . You should be encouraged to be FAST. You should win MONEY to be fast You should get perks like being in Eliminator for winning class and being FAST. You should not be PUNISHED for being fast.
Now how are the bumps and valleys in the HP book evened out? WITHOUT PUNISHING HARD WORK? 1)Accept that ALL motors will NOT BE COMPETITIVE. 2)Do away with the 10 variations of an engine ( ie a high hp 350 and a low hp 350 ( no 10 different carbs and 10 different heads) This is for ease only. 3) Reward hard work and being a Class winner with CASH instead of only having the Big money for Bracket part of the program(Eliminator) 4) Start DE factoring motors which cannot compete at their current HP levels using a similar but reverse system to AHFS. Use the last two years data to provide the performance level for class cars and SUBTRACT HP on the slow et cars. ONLY defactor enough to cut the gap there last year to 1/2. Cars which pick up the pace and are competitive STOP. With winner money as a goal sandbagging and winning will NOT be possible. The idea is not to get the cars EVEN but to move the slow ones up without punishing the fast cars or rewarding the Sand bagging mentality. Then it will be about performance again. The first year of Class winners sharing Big payouts and Eliminator getting a Wally will show the true levels of performance which is possible with most combinations. Over see the adjustments with a committee of ..... Class Racers.... I know some will be fearful and play the MONEY card but this is just another view.....With POSITIVE rewards for being fast not punishment for it. |

1.) Bogus after market castings
2.) Bogus HP ratings 3.) Bogus Intake runner numbers 4.) Bogus rules that help some combos much more than others 5.) Bogus combinations never exiting in a car 6.) Bogus deck heights 7.) Bogus carb swaps 8.) Equalization of SAE HP ratings to 1971 and earlier engine dyno ratings. All create a need for some type of factoring system.

John,
Good Point! If we all had the same rule book we could probably start from there! ![]() ![]()
