I have seen this mentioned a number of times and am curious about what factors contribute to an engine's ability to carry HP past peak. Rick Thomason GTOMayhem |

This has me curious as well. So it's sounding like intead of worring about peak HP your focus in Stock is to have a long HP curve?

Quoting a good friend of mine from the left coast "Its the nature of the beast". Meaning, in this instance, that some engines, probably depending most on the cylinder heads, will be able to go quite a bit farther up the range past peak hp. than others can.

Rick, It will vary based on what someone is running. I have seen a cam change do it. How many people when they dyno their engine make a pull more than a couple of hundred RPM past peak HP to really know what it does? Stan |

I think it would depend on the intended use of the engine, but more people than you might think run well past peak when dyno testing, they just don't show that data, just my opinion.
