I’m blessed to have known Al and been witness to a few Al stories. He was one of a kind, a great American, a good friend, and a kind hearted person. Being in Topeka when he won Superstock and celebrating with him (and a bunch of stock/superstock pillars) is a top 5 on my all time drag racing memories. Thanks Al. Godspeed.
PS-Whenever I see a q-jet carb, I see Al pulling metering rods from his shirt pocket with a little notebook……….and some words of wisdom.
