Keep the AHFS. Though the air sucks it's the place where it has the highest chance of working. The AHFS is FAR from perfect but it's the only thing we have. Too many soft combos that could use a little whacked off the top.

It does not work because too many know how to manipulate the numbers and play the game.

The majority of races have voted to not have AHFS at Indy. The majority should prevail. How don't you understand that. BP |

Whatever Barry. I guess it’s ok for people to go 120 with no penalties
Sure what’s the sense . Just let everyone do what they want. No tear down anymore. No tech. Who cares. I see that’s fine But back when Bill Hawk was abusing you guys running the 396/375 it was OK to have the 120 under trigger. Correct? Say it ain’t so.

James I can't run with several fast cars especially the 2015 Camaro's. No where did I say the rest of what you said. It's my opinion to let Indy be the ONE National that there is no AHFS. At least Indy is one of the few races where there is a good chance if you do go fast enough you will be torn down. Or change the AHFS to reflect the improvements the cars have made in the last 20 years when it was first implemented. Have you seen the list of parts you can use now. It's not the same list that was there when the AHFS was started. BP
And James Bill's car with the specs it has should still be able to out perform the 396/375 cars. I laughed when I saw him pull an aluminum drive shaft out from under his 1967 stang. I doubt even the pro stocks had them in 67 Last edited by B Parker; 06-10-2021 at 09:47 PM. |

I think they should tell everyone theres no AHFS then do it so everyone gets caught up in their own BS.
maybe its about time to reindex the classes themselves. I dont see the fun in having more car then youre supposed to. I think if they want to catch people up in stuff they should start teching the cars that are letting off before the finish in class or qualifying. pretty obvious when someone is running .8 under but at 20 less mph than everyone else in class somethings up. WFO. run your damn cars all out thats what we built them for. at least i did. |

For me Indy is about seeing our racing family from all over the country and beyond, some of whom I only see once a year and the excitement of heads up class racing. Working on the car all year trying to make it faster, prepping it before class runoffs and racing against the best/fastest racers in your class are what Indy is about. I have raced at Indy where I was sweating out the final qualifying sheet to see if I made it in to the other end of the spectrum where I’m pretty sure I can qualify. AHFS will never work if class is run as last year. In a competitive class with 5 or 6 cars tightly packed together some people simply made the decision to use the passes to just qualify and not prep the car for an all out run. The way class was run last year really took the luster off of Indy for me. A solution to the AHFS could be run class the way we have for the last 50 years excluding last year. If a race qualifies as a mineshaft race should it be mineshaft for everybody? Indy should be the one race where we let it all hang out, leave everything we have on the track. The poll indicates the racers wishes. If NHRA wants confirmation they could do their own poll of the class racers who have attended Indy.

2021 US Nationals AFIS. Has any new information about use of the AFIS system been decided? It is truly a shame to dum-down class racing at Indy.
