Kudos to those racers that stuck it out (been there, done that). You guys should get an extra grade point.

With that bad weather forecast the race should have been cancelled before it began. Our D2 division director did that at The SGMP race this year when he saw it was going to be a wash out. Sucks everyone spent all of that fuel money just to sit in the rain all weekend.

“Glass half full” thinking that it gives some folks an option on the way to Indy. Small consolation I know but we all learn from these things, in this case I’ll learn from Jack’s mistake and bring an extra box of oatmeal.

It’s about choices.
As a racer I have to watch the weather and make the decision As they say The Show Must Go On. I’m done with self inflicted wounds. $$$$ Because they ain’t gonna postpone nothin. $$$$

Many of us had high hopes for Division 1's long awaited opener. The event regularly draws some of the highest class-car counts in the country. Along with this, CRT in accordance with NHRA D1 planned to gather up some of our Vietnam Veterans and do a nice interview at the top of the staging lanes on their cars and their service. Three straight days of rain not only disrupted the racing portion but also provided us no chance to interview these gentlemen. On the final morning of the canceled event, Bob Bender was loading up so we decided to pay him a visit and learn more about his car and combo. Bob proudly flies his American flags high during race weekends and pilots a station wagon large enough to live in.

Some of the best / inexpensive seafood I've ever had on the road .Hopefully the new owners will carry on the tradition - I'll stop this year on my way to the Divisional no doubt about it - on route 125 north for you folks who haven't been there .Too bad they won't be opening for our National event .

For anyone that didn't see the coolest wheelie of the weekend, the award goes to Duane Hoven in the Super Stock GT/OA '71 Ford Maverick! Video credit: Rebecca Hoven
