I have tried to keep my dog out of this fight but COVID-19 has no comparison to the flu. It is much more contagious and more deadly. If you guys want to catch it and possibly die its is your business. If you give it to me or my loved ones it is everyone's business.

From the very top down the the USA has, with advanced warning, done a terrible job fighting this war. More infections and more deaths than any other country in the world. Many with higher populations and higher population densities.

Rather than some anonymous unfortunate soul in New York City, would you feel different about a COVID death if it was your mother, father, wife, son or daughter?

I dunno about the C19 vs. the flu, but I have witnessed a disease that comes around every year that is highly contagious. It has affected many of my friends and close acquaintances with little regard. The impact can be financially detrimental, but there are times that it will give you some relief. I have seen it bring communities of people together helping one another at times you would not expect, but that is what makes this disease span decades without a strong desire to find a cure.

It is called sportsman drag racing.

If you look up the R-naught value of the common flu it is about 1.3 and the R-naught of Corvid-19 was at the lowest number I could find above 2. At 1.3 the common flu would infect around 14 people after 10 cycles of contact. Covid-19 at 2 with the same cycles of contact is 1024. Then throw in the fact that there is no "herd Immunity" for Covid-19 and you have a way more contagious flu.

I see that the CDC said they saw median numbers for R0 for COVID-19 at 5.7.

I would think that just by observation one would notice that COVID-19 is more contagious and more deadly than the seasonal flu.

The flu season lasts approximately 6 months and it kills about 50,000 people per year in the U.S. Covid-19 has killed close to 55,000 people in a little over 6 weeks! It's like comparing apples and oranges!

Interesting how you did not post the next paragraph in that article.

The COVID-19 situation is changing rapidly. Since this disease is caused by a new virus, people do not have immunity to it, and a vaccine may be many months away. Doctors and scientists are working on estimating the mortality rate of COVID-19, but at present, it is thought to be higher than that of most strains of the flu.
