Man, I feel for him. But to make it worthwhile, he needs attendance, lots of it, buying food, drinks etc....can't see it. I've been there 3 times and I told Bader to his face that I hate him...he and his track have ruined me for almost every other track or experience. I want to go one more time, in fact just cancelled rooms in Norwalk.

I want to race very bad....but my plan is to seek out venues, with space to pit all alone, in the boonies, and limit any people contact, and stay in trailer (no motels), carry food & water, no concessions (ain't figured out bathrooms yet)….most points races have little or no fans anyway, although desire to see "something" may bring them out....I THINK I can be careful in most points race environments.....can't see how Norwalk can do it, But I wish them well

DeWine vs Bader, pass the popcorn

Or, you could see a spike of cases in the Cleveland area, with the common demoninator being that people developing the new cases all went to the track seven to 21 days before.

As for being thought through, do you really think an insurance company would say "Good plan. Go for it?"

OK ... It is balancing possible short-term gain against possible long-term losses.
Alright, but we're going backwards in time now.. There are now hundreds of cases in Cleveland..1000's in Boston area.
If and when Norwalk re-opens, new cases will have gone down. Still, it would be difficult to pinpoint the exact time and place of contact. That's not to say some lawyer wouldn't try it.
Mr Bader's insurance companies and lawyers would have to make the call.
We could do "what ifs" and "supposin's" until next year .
By that time , Trump's economy would be in shambles. I'd hate to see that.
That's probably the difference between you and I.

I don't worry about maintaining proper social distancing at the race track, but at the same time, I haven't touched a gas pump handle in over a month. On a typical race weekend, I'm filling the motorhome, filling gas cans, buying a bag of ice. People from all over the region will be intermingling at various points along the way.

It seems that the liability could be enormous, and a bigger threat to the track's future than just remaining closed under federal or state guidelines.

The liability could extend to anyone with whom he has a business relationship in operating the track. Sponsors. Sanctioning bodies. Insurance companies.

Do what you want to do. Liberty. The government is not smart enough to know how to protect people from themselves. Since the survival rate is around 98%, just catching the disease is not terminal. Don't be foolish (hard for some people), but don't live in fear because your sensibilities are being bombarded constantly with a single message.

I live in Washington and things are a little difficult until May 4th, at least. In some areas things might be able to happen using common sense. If social distancing is encouraged and everyone stays safe small events could possibly happen. It definitely depends on the area and what the guidelines are for that area. Stay safe and healthy my friends.

Hi Dwight,
I think you 98% might be a little high. But the real question is what is the mortality rate in the older age group which many here fall into?

I've been dealing with a company in India for almost a year now, talking with the employees extensively about what's going on there, and yes they shut the country down until May 3rd, so explain to me how a country with 3 times the population as the US and has millions and millions of impoverished citizens packed together on the streets with NO protection, NO testing and NO social distancing for the homeless and poor, but only have 10,000 cases and about 400 deaths. There would be thousands and thousands of dead bodies laying all over the streets, which is not the case. They are even opening up some the rural areas of the country as we speak. This is BS, our country better wake up and open up!!

I think 98% is low. There is no telling how many people contracted the virus, never symptomized. We mostly only test those with symptoms. I agree about the older age group assessment, but that is why I said do what you want to do. I don't see going to a drag race as any more probable for exposure than WalMart, Walgreen's, or the grocery store.

Lest anyone assume I am some extreme right-wing wacko, understand that I work for the state government at a level that I was included in making the decision to close our state capitol building and to send all our staff home except essentials. But I tend to see things from a reality view rather than emotional. I have made decisions my entire life mitigating the risk involved. I do not need someone else telling me about the danger of one thing or another and I sure don't need more fear based explanations justifying some arbitrary authority destroying our country.
