The Fairplex is closed until June 1. Nothing has been announced for June and beyond. It wouldn't be a surprise to see it remain closed for an extended period of time.

As far as racing is concerned, can nhra survive this pandemic? nhra, like most not for profit outfits, squanders most of its earnings on its top executives each year and may not be holding enough cash reserves to weather this storm. There has been no word on layoffs from nhra so we must assume it is ok for now. But how long can it hold on is the question?

The first tentative divisional races are one month away. What is happening in Atlanta, Georgia and Almo Dragway in Texas as far as shut downs? Motels, restaurants and now borders?
A month from now half the restaurants could be out of business. The governor of California is considering cancelling all sporting events. Waiting to open the country's doors til May 1st seems crazy too me. So many folks need help now and not because they have the virus.

Looking for some light sooner than May,

Cool Re: L.A. mayor considers banning outdoor sports.....

Speaking of Pomona Drag Strip, they used it Monday or Tuesday. Not for its originally intended purpose, but as a distribution point for dispensing paper products, diapers, food stuffs and whatever else. People drove up one lane and the staff of the distribution had tables set upon a long line in the other lane and dispensed things people needed as they drove up. I immediately recognized the place, and it was a good use for the track to borrow it to help someone else. They only use the track twice a year for the two national events, so it just sits the rest of the year.Might put us in a better public eye.

Normal years = Pomona has around 8 or 9 High Performance and Collector
Swap Meets as well. Truly Huge and some of the largest in the Country.
If you walked up and down every row = I believe they stated over 10 Miles!
Many years there are some other races as well....Usually muffler cars. the Fairgrounds is a major benefit to local economy!
