So I was cleaning out a file cabinet ( yep, I'm bored big time ) and came across a bunch of old racing pictures from yesteryear .And since I promised to be fun again and not talk about the virus or unemployment or even the politics of the day I'm just gonna post 'em and let our members see if they can identify who is in the pics .The scene is the winners circle at San Air, Canada and everything you've heard about that track is true and then some. Many of our Division One members would love to go back .....Anyone that has others can join in and put 'em up .

For sure! I don't know the guy on the left, but that's you Jack, not to leave you out, in the sweater vest. I only had the pleasure of meeting you once or twice.
That's a great shot. Can't leave out the car. It's the former Dick Moreland U/SA 65 Belvedere wagon. (Last I heard, it was owned by Jerry Stein, "Teachers Pet".) Mike did better with that car than he and Terry (and Ted Struse) did with the 440 and 340 cars that they ran. (Not for lack of trying.) He traveled the east coast and went to Indy with it. Don Himes (RIP) found it to be a great way to get to the concession stand during rain delays. It was a 9 passenger! I met Mike around '82 when I started working for him. We drank beer, I mean, restored Mustangs! We partnered on a 71 RR D/SA for a couple years in the mid 90's. That was proof for sure that racing is way more than just racing! Very fun times. I happened to be a neighbor of Ted's and it all went down hill from there! Thanks, Jack. Where 'yat Eag'? Last edited by Dave Gantz; 04-08-2020 at 11:52 PM. |

The car looks a lot like the former Dick Moreland (RIP) Wagon now owned by Clayton "Slo Motion" Wright last campaigned by Clayton and Dick a few ears back before Dick's health went south. Dick was a great guy to be around plenty of jokes and stocker knowledge.

Frank, it is Dick Moreland's old car. And you are right, I believe (I have CRS) it was Clayton that bought it. It's been a while. I "remembered" the wrong Mopar guy. I didn't know Dick passed away. RIP Mike wore that hat (and that shirt, for that matter) for years. |

Dick’s 65 has been owned by David and Donna Koopman of Maryville TN. They campaigned the car with the 273 and now in the process of completely updating the combo. It’s a great looking car “Class of 65” but I don’t have a hosting app to load a current picture.

There was a blue '65 Dodge that was Dick's called "Class Of '65", that Ray Valpreda owned for a while. Man, time flies! |
