You are speaking of Bill Felker RIP from Division 3. Bill raced an Oldsmobile Cutlass in one of the Super Stock modified type classes. Maybe someone else can remember exactly which class he ran.

Thanks Travis
Sorry to hear of his passing The video I found has his car almost straight up, never lifted, bounced at 300 plus feet and ran 9.99 at 134 plus (the crowd went wild as they say) Later run must have tied it down, nice wheelie, but tamer |

As usual, Travis is spot on....When I first started racing, Bill was referred to as the MASTER of the big block Chevy in the Indiana - Kentucky area. Later in his racing career he raced this yellow Olds that was a handful to drive. I vividly remember a young lady from southern Indiana driving this car at Ohio Valley. I was in the water box when she left the line. The car went straight up ,like usual ....but drifted to the guardrail....She had balls the size of grapefruits so lifting was not going to happen ...When I returned to the pits I saw where she scraped the entire passenger side of the car. Thankfully she was OK...She went on to be quite a successful driver on the NHRA trail......Thanks for the trip down memory lane Randall......

Never been accused of being too bright, but all the shiny nuggets look even better next to us dull rocks. Stay safe, hope to meet you in person at Indy this year.

Thanks for the name, somehow I have a VHS of that run, transferred to DVD, and I'm in the middle of making a 25 minute DVD with Bill Felker's run as the Grand Finale.
Want to give him credit on the DVD Thanks again |
