Money does pays for Knowledge Ed...!! Like a $25,000 Stock Eliminator Engine with special everything. Like a $10,000 Transmission and Converter Like a $5000 Rear Like Special Built Shocks REM BLUED Bearings Most just bolt them on. Few have the knowledge or experience how to do these. Want to go fast? You go to the specialist. AND they want to be paid for their Knowledge. Pretty soon a $1000 shell costs $35000 to build. If you add the Hourly Rate we put into building the car. We have a Boat !! Dan, not everybody just buys high dollar engines. Some know how to build their own.

Just about everyone sends their stuff out to a machine shop. Unless they are an engine machinist. Most can put the pieces together. Fewer rebuild transmissions. Then again a newby has a learning curve. All about the money. Dan |

[QUOTE=Dan Fahey;
All about the money. Dan[/QUOTE] Truest thing you’ve said yet. This is an expensive hobby (sport?). Always has been, always will be. Plenty of guys that can’t and don’t spend the $$ to be -1.20. The difference between them and others is the amount of whining about it most of them don’t do.

When you work a combination for 40 or more years. You are spending money every year to chase the Rabbit. The luck of NHRA rating many cars do run 1.20 on Mineshaft day. Unless gifted with a Soft index. My Car has run 1.27 under working to go 1.40. Improved performance every year since buying the car new..1995! it is a learning game. Every year more money. Document each step. Wear and tear needed new interior and paint job. Including being hit several time by butt head drivers.. Ran brackets for years and got well under the G/PS index Wanted to run stock bad and drove to all the IHRA meets. Changed all 4 tires and raced. Reversed process and headed home. My challenge; use a Pure Stocker cam to run K/L/M index. Only have so much time..money has not been a big issue. When the car is down I cannot race.. So like most, every improvement came out of pocket. Not every change worked...had to recruit help $$. Nothing is for free in racing .. and can be ego bruising.. Mike Eppretch. You have a great car..I know who built the bones.. You bought it from Bryan Herter who bought it from Bernie Steinke. Our Impala group knows it as Snowflake...use to run deep 10’s. You car is lighter than mine as a P/SA car. Think your best is 12.27. Mine is 12.47 so we are not off by much. Figuring there is only 2 tenths left in mine and no more. Unless doing a Curtis Turner NASCAR rebuild. Btw you are invited to the ECIRS meet at Cecil on March 28. All of us would love to see your car back. Our 4 door class racing is fun..check us out on Facebook. There will be some Heads Up racing too. Guarantee you will be asked a ton of questions...! Sorry you spent your money on the wrong car. You now can’t race but a few places. Keep throwing stones at accomplished NHRA class racers. You will continue to get treated like the dope you are. I myself think your delusional cause you mistakenly think you are relevant Flame on. By the way can you qualify for a sanctioned Nhra race.? Asking for a friend.

Only Stones being throw are from you..and you are not a very good shot! But I am good tossing them back.... Will improve that scowl you have on your face ! FWIW I have raced my Impala since 2000. Some of us have real jobs..and do what you can. As for racing ..I can attend SS/S Assoc meet anywhere on the planet. AND YES I can qualify for a Sanctioned NHRA Race in Canada. As they will accept Pure Stockers and other IHRA cars. So go cry another river Perrone' Like I said before I take my money and spend it where my business is wanted. AND if that just burns you up I can toss in some hot sauce ! Last edited by Dan Fahey; 03-05-2020 at 06:33 PM. |

You can always watch me. Me I’m just some broke *** tow truck driver. I live off my wife’s salary. She didn’t give me any $$$ so I could race Gainesville I may start a Go Fund page. Poor me.
