Default Re: Unused race cars

I have been hesitant to post here but here is some accurate information and believe me I should know.

46 out of 50 sold in the one year only build.
They cost $104,000 with belts and window net.
No VIN - can't be registered. Can not get a title on them - no manufacture certificate of completion - Bill of Sale only)
Only 6 got run more than once. - so 87% sat.

Ours has been the most heavily campaigned. (Top Gear Show, magazines, calendars -- so what) 2 divisional wins - 1 Nat Open win - 2 final rounds at Nat events

At least two bought $30K Barton motors - only to ridiculously bang it out of competition in stock and hurt it in SS - but we carry on - we know what we have.

Ours maintained the small tire configuration (even with a TB) - one of Teuton's did not.

Now for IMHO - (IN My Humble Opinion) this is tough love but -

The V10 drag pak is NOT a race car hence at a collector car auction. Race cars are not collector cars until they are about 40 years old.

Every piece of safety equipment would need to be upgraded because of dates.
It had the wrong converter.
The suspension (springs and shocks) needs to be reworked by someone like Phil Mandella at PMR.
Need to spend countless hours working through SCT to obtain the original CAL and software in order to update the tune - which had a significant stumble. Of course you could spend $5k for a MOTEC ECU but it turns out V10 dodges are not that popular with them or anybody else.
The trans gear and rear end gear ratios were incorrect.

We spent more than $39k on our last SS motors (unfortunately two - now a third). V10 parts are hens teeth and people who work on them are like frog hairs.

The collector car auctions with people in their "fine" sipping cocktails are not there to buy a race car.

Ours is not for sale but my reserve would be $150k and we would lose money and a life adventure.

See you in Phoenix and Tucson.
