Well Brian, since you brought it up, how did the 70-71 challenger Hemi get a HP reduction in the first place? It's slow avg. in AA is -.1125 but it's slow avg. in A is -.859. Am I missing something here?

The "AA" combination was with the replacement aluminum head, and the "A" combination was with the OEM cast iron head. Only the replacement head received a HP reduction.

Lots of Pontiac guys will like that 5hp reduction, on the '68 Bird 400. NHRA left it at 330 for a LONG time. Then, hit it with 8, a few years back.

Still quite a few of those '68 Birds running.

Not many running the SD455. Just too rare.

There are still a few '71 455HO cars out there. I think Don Turk has one, & will appreciate the 5hp reduction.

You should subscribe to Nitro Joe’s Stats (see Bill Howell’s threads on getting the year end stat book off FleaBay) plus NHRA “periodically” releases run data for each combination and who ran them (by driver number). Some folks pour over Live Timing history and Warren Evan’s excellent YouTube offerings of many events permit you see every incremental (I know because depression sets in when I see how quick Bill Rink is LOL).
