Station wagon shipping weight is 3062. The heaviest auto gas V8 is the 327/275. It has a SS rating of 307 and a GT rating of 295 with OEM heads. I don't know which to use. Classification weight is figured without factoring in driver weight.
Quotes are from the 2019 GT Weight section. Math is mine and not under warranty.... "Shipping weight will be determined by using the power to weight factor of the vehicle with the heaviest gasoline engine and appropriate transmission" 3062/327 = 9.36 lbs per hp. "..and multiplying the factor times the horsepower or performance rating" 9.36 x 295 = 2761 (pick one) 9.36 x 307 = 2874 "The proper class weight will then be determined by dividing this figure by the horsepower or performance rating of the engine used. Class is determined without driver weight." 2761/295 = 9.36 2874/307 = 9.36 GT/GA 9.00=9.49 lbs per NHRA factored HP "Shipping weight of vehicle may be adjusted a maximum of 250 pounds to fit car in class." +250 =3011 = 10.2 NHRA factor GT/IA 10.0-10.49 -250 =2511 = 8.5 NHRA factor GT/FA 8.5-8.99 EDIT Indexes GT/GA 10.40 GT/IA 10.65 GT/FA 10.25

3062- 250= 2812÷ 295= 9.53 pw factor LIGHTEST
3062+250= 3312÷ 295= 11.23 pw factor heaviest GT/HA is 9.50 to 9.99 pw factor. This would be the lightest class he could run. CAN NOT GO TO BOTTOM OF CLASS THOUGH. GT/KA is 11.00 to 11.49 pw factor this would be the heaviest class he could run. GT/HA min 2980 index 10.50 GT/IA MIN 3120 INDEX 10.65 GT/JA min 3265 index 10.80 GT/KA min 3415 index 10.90 GT/JA still seems like best choice for ya. Add 25lbs from your SS/IA MIN WT & GET a tenth in index. Cool car by the way. Don't see very many 327 Wagons running SS/IA. |

![]() Because I screwed up. The weight calculations should be: 3062/275 = 11.13 X 295 = 3284 An11.13 weight to hp factor and a 3284 shipping weight. I will correct my post.

This math has been corrected.
66 Nova wagon is natural GT/KA and sits at the top of the weight brake. Sorry for the math screw up....... -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Station wagon shipping weight is 3062. Class is determined without driver weight." 3284/295 = 11.13 3381/307 = 11.00 GT/KA 11.00-11.49 "Shipping weight of vehicle may be adjusted a maximum of 250 pounds to fit car in class." HEAVY MAX +250 - 3534 = 11.98 NHRA factor GT/LA 11.50-11.99 LIGHT MAX -250 - 3034 = 10.28 NHRA factor GT/IA 10.00-10.49
