I did not run a mid plate. I had steel tubing about 1/2 inch in diameter, with hiem joints on each end. one end went to the trans cross member and the other end on the clutch can. this was hooked up on the passenger side of the car. it's simple and rock solid. Luke

I built a tube cross member that bolts to the frame and the flange on the bellhousing. I'm happy I did because I had a flywheel come apart a few years ago, it broke the back of the block off, the crossmember held everything together until I got the car stopped.

Yes, several different ways you can do it. It also depends on where the eng and trans bolt together in relationship to the firewall.
