The entire L98 induction system was designed for the 305. If you have a 350 it will most likely make more power with a larger TB, and certainly would make more power with a ported base manifold which to my knowledge does not have any specs on it, except you aren't supposed to modify it......... There is a lot of junk in the way inside the plenum, but it would be damn obvious to remove any of it if someone knew what to look for. Bolting a 58mm TB on a stock plenum will do nothing, the plenum opening is sized for the stock TB.

Not sure about the plenum opening on the LT1.

I had a 58mm throttle body left over from my 383” LT4 street engine. My Hogan intake is big enough for that 58mm (1000 cam) throttle body. My super Stock LT1 runs no faster with that 1000 cfm throttle body than with the stock unit. That TB would be like putting a Holly Dominator carb on it. What sense would that make? Illegal, of course. Run quicker? Not likely. You are worrying about the wrong part. Some newbies may put one on “because it has to be faster.”

Did the same test and saw absolutely nothing, throttle body doesn't seem to be the choke point.
