I would love to see just how many hours the average Tech is allotted (or paid for) to do his job on a day-to-day basis.

I agree with Billy on this. The issue is not the tech people. To insult them is out of line.

I think the tech department is doing a fine job, at Indy they tore down about 10 cars and had found more than a few to have issues that disqualified them. They also were pulling carbs and throttle bodies of almost half the field. At Maple Grove they tore down the 1.20 under car and had him in the barn all day then they went through about 6 Comp Cars too checking various things.
ALL the classes require policing and there are fewer tech people so they do have their hands full but overall they are a busy bunch of guys. Stop the glory days stuff. |

The video of Jim in the pits is very cool. Looks like Jim is just a good ole' boy that can kick butt in NHRA competition.
I believe he threw down the gauntlet saying no K/SA car in the country can run with him. Atta boy Jim. You make it seem easy. 81 - and still having fun.

When I worked the Gators many moons ago (My first National event for NHRA in 1972) I received $25 for the whole race and I paid for the plane ticket. Before my dispute with Mike Baker at IHRA I received $500 for the whole race Thur. AM thru Sunday evening and either gas money or plane fare and the rental car bill.. Baker wanted to allow head mods (Porting) on the Top Stock cars. Standing on your feet from 7: 30 AM to 12:00 AM or 1:00 AM wears you out And I had very little help with the Stocks and Super Stocks plus we had the pro stocks remove the heads on the old small block pro stocks to measure cubic inches not P&G checks and occasionally the mountain motor Pro Stocks to check for allowable bore spacing .
