![]() I agree with Steve. It is called the 'Big Go' not the 'What I did last year Go'...I don't race Indy because I can't currently afford the time or money to do what it takes to be able to earn grade points to enter the race, and then possibly harder, to actually run fast enough to qualify. I don't want to minimize the biggest class race in Drag Racing or change how hard it is and the feat it is to win it though. If we don't like the current setup, then we don't have to go. There is plenty of people clamoring to get in to be able run, the field is crazy fast and the racing is really competitive. Isn't that what we all really want at the 'Big Go'? I have already marked out on the family calendar (starting the permission slip process with Mrs Friar) to go next year as a spectator for Thu & Fri with my Dad.

Just a heads up...….
INDY 2018 had Class Winners in L/SA and N/SA that didn't qualify for the Eliminator.... Both Class Winners beat other racecars in their class HEADS UP to earn a Wally. 42 Factory Stock racecars entered and 32 Factory Stock racecars qualified for the Eliminator. 25% of the Stock Eliminator field was made up of Factory Stock racecars. It almost appears that the name of Stock Eliminator should be changed to Factory Stock Eliminator This is just another case of the NEW NHRA discarding history. You have probably heard it before but it appears that the NEW NHRA doesn't have a clue and possibly never will.

The '55-'57 Chevy guys all complained when the '61-'63 lightweight Fords, Pontiacs, and Mopars showed up. The '61-'63 lightweight guys complained when the '67-'70 Big block and Hemi cars showed up. The '67-'70 big block and Hemi guys complained when the LT1 and EFI cars showed up. The EFI guys complain about the Factory Stock cars. It's called progress and it's inevitable. And believe me, I absolutely love the fact that there are so many cool old cars still racing in Stock. |

Nope. This is not Comp Eliminator. Why have classes if they don't count? And don't argue about fairness; fair is only where the ball is hit in baseball. A car that runs a sec under and gets beat in class elim is no more qualified to run the eliminator than a car that runs .3 under for a trophy.
