Div 1 is $1500 to win and $600 I think for R/up...…..32 cars for full payout usually. Not many events without a good turnout......

Round $ starts rd 3 at $100 and goes up $50 each round. Semi's just get rd $ ….That's a round that really hurts to lose......and should pay better but it is what it is...…...

Some Open races are/were $2000 to win thanks to Gary Richard and P.C. Richard's a great supporter of Sportsman racers and he races numerous cars....A big thanks to him for that support....

If your not going to win, might as well lose rd 1 and save gas, and laps on your car.....LOL...…

That's an old saying we made up years ago....its truer today than ever.....

Best deal in Division 1 is the Dutch Classic. Paid a total of $3250.00 to win SS in 2017. Big thanks to Maple Grove, Division 1, P.C. Richards, Gold Rush Trailers, and ATI for that one!

For some folks, racing really is a hobby, and they would do it if the rewards were nothing but a trophy. For others, the potential for some kind of ROI, if their performance warrants it, matters. For purses to have remained nearly the same (or reduced) over the last 20 years, while every expense and commitment has drastically gone up, is pathetic. BUT I understand, the options are accept it for what it is or quit.

As far as the info is concerned, payouts and purses used to be published in the Dragster, along with other useful information. Now it's an ordeal to find it. Every bracket race on the planet has those details easily available. I was having a conversation very recently about Pro Stock purses and round money. I'm pretty handy with Google, but was unable to find that information for any of the Pro classes. NHRA used to brag about the $1,000,000+ purse for the upcoming XYZ Nationals - now they treat that information like it's a state secret. Why?

As far as the idea that the payouts don't matter much because we don't race for the money...

There's some truth to that, but many of us have limited budgets. Decent payouts can be the difference between being able to run just a few races per year vs. most or all of the division schedule. And for some it can mean the difference between racing and not racing.

Just because we're not trying to make a profit doesn't mean the payout doesn't matter.

I'll see if I can make a profit in Tucson this weekend. Obviously I go for the fun of it since the last divisional I won was in 1992. My 1985 open trailer could use a few good payouts.

D4 payouts posted at http://www.nhradiv4.com/2014/PurseEntryFees.pdf are similar to the D2 purse posted earlier. They haven’t changed in a while. The good news in D4 is that sponsors have stepped up to increase the winner and runner up totals by $500 & $250 at the 2019 D4 races. Thanks to School of Automotive Machinists (SAMTECH) for sponsoring Stock and Stanfield Racing Engines for sponsoring Super Stock. The bad news in D4 is that we may need to invest in air boats to get a race in any time soon.

This all goes back to my post of how much money does the purse have to be for you to enter a race and how far would you travel to support it. Speak up. I would like to know Barry
