While I believe this years Gators are "SPECIAL", I'll say something again that I've said before that could be done for every National, dumbass NHRA ---- accept 80+ entries and qualify for a 64 car field! Win Win Win !!

I think having class is a sound idea. Division races need more cars and clearly, they want less cars at nationals. I think it could be an add on. Even if it costs an extra 50 bucks if you choose to enter. I may not be the quicker car, but it is fun to go heads up.

Some post negative posts because they haven’t raced for 20-30 years and never will race again. I can’t fix that.
At least the D2 Director is trying different approaches to help sportsman have more choices.

You are right Jim, Rich has tried some different things for D2 racers even went head to head with the brass to get a rule change last year for a rule change to allow racers an extra grade point in Rockingham. Unfortunately he seems to still draw criticism for whatever he does, sooner or later he may get tired of the whining and just let the chips land where they may.

Just an idea!

What NHRA could have done is having 120 car entry field and to get the race done quicker, have 1st, 2nd and or 3rd random pairings with no heads up till the ladder. This would speed up the race, get revenue from entries and people couldn't play the qualifying ladder game.

Its been over 20 years since I spectated at the Gatornationals, but at that time they held Class eliminations for Stock and S/S, and had 128 car fields for both classes, and there were more cars than that in each class. Now I guess only Indy has 128 car fields?

Even if they opened up the field to 80 or 120.
The whining would continue
Bottom line you better get grade points
Nhra National EVENTS are a privilege or Reward those who race divisionals
Jim great point on the non racers stoking the fire of Hate
Always the same people whining with no skin in the game
If it wasn’t for Class racer these people have nothing
Class at divisionals No extra charge. Would make most racers Happy
We as racers should push for this through our divisions

I have a Grade 12 and still do not attend Nationals as much as everyone else, I enjoy the divisionals better. Your idea of class @ 1 Divisional is a great Idea. I will speak to Dave Mohn and see if I can put something together.

Division 2 has cut our races back to two day events. that started last year. Friday and Saturday events. They would have to go back to 3 day events to have class at the divisionals in D2. Except for this year at Gainesville that they have now given the moniker of the "Baby Gators". I am one that agrees with Casey that the home division racers should get some preferential treatment with national events in their home division. Personally I ran all of our division events and have 6 grade points and didn't get in to the national event that is 150 miles from home. I am not complaining. As it works out the baby Gators will have class and be the bigger better event than the real gators. Most likely there will be huge amount of people drop from the gators after class is over the weekend before.

This is so simple. For these major specialty events just add a day. That would give you the time for class and qualifying on the first day and then they could go back to the new normal three day National Event schedule. If you don’t want to race for class you should be able to show up at the normal time and just run the race thus not requiring any additional days off for anyone unless they choose to race for class. If you went with one qualifying run on Friday and then first round You should be able to increase the quotas some with this format. Mike McMahan 2543 H/SA
