A while back I had heard that Aaron and Greg Stanfield were looking for the Camaro that Howard raced in East Texas at I-20, Hallsville and Whitehouse. I knew it had moved around to several people. I had heard that Greg Williams had owned it. I had a good idea where it was. The guy that owned it lived just a few miles from my house and his son had talked to me about the car. So I got with Aaron Stanfield and told him where I thought the car was. A few weeks he texted me to tell me he had bought his Grandfather's car & they were going to restore it back to like it was in the 1970's era. I was reading this thread and began to wonder about the restoration. I have misplaced his & Gregg's contact info.
Does anyone have any info about their progress. I'm interested because I watched Greg play (as a kid back in the 70's) in the pits when I ran Whitehouse Dragway and his Dad (Howard) raced the Camaro.

If anyone wants to "legitimize" their race car as a true "barn find", your free to bring you car to my barn for a photo shoot. We can put it in the barn with some hay/chickens or pose it just outside the barn for effect. We can also put a tractor beside it for some reality. Adding cattle/pigs would be a cost item unfortunately. I can also loan you some overalls and a pitchfork if you need it.
Great thread by the way. ![]() ![]() ![]() |

My 65, not too sure if it came out of a barn, I bought it on E-Bay, "Buy it Now" for a $1000 and had shipped to my house in NY from Deleware. The frame was full of sand, so wherever it was had to be close to a beach.
