There are several V8 4 bbl engines that are good combos.
The first question though, is what do you consider entry level?

Maybe Mike Meires Spirit with a disassembled 304? He sold that one, almost went after it myself.

The '69 Rambler Rogue sedan with the 290-225(210) looks interesting. Nice cam, good compression, good carb, decent heads and intake.
As always...what's the budget, do you have a car or parts now, etc.? -Al

Thank you all for input. Am I way out of line ? Entry level $12-15K investment. 13 to 15 second car. Wagons, yes! I looked at Spirits many times but ,you know even though its just sheet metal ,ya gotta like it or it won't like you!

Biggest expenses, where you'll need to open the wallet wide, are cylinder heads done by someone competent, that will pass tech and not leave a bunch of ET on the table. Also, valvetrain, torque converter, new wheels and tires Plus maybe 900 small items you don't know you'll need yet. Good luck... Ask your questions here, and not down at the Tastee Freeze. You're at the right place.
