You say NHRA would be lost money if they didn't come but you forget they don't have to do any of this, its not some sort of government assistance program. And lastly as was already pointed out it was not 40% of the field it was 28%!
The holiday weekend messed it up a bit, I know three Longhaney cars were missing, Jim Marshall was on tour in Epping. Terry Taylor, Tim Sloan , Bill Plage, Cody Phillips, Brandon Peterson Hillery Sloan have already changed over to a NHRA stocker, there's at least another six or seven crate motor cars that didn't race. Give it some time. 👍

Ken you're misunderstanding my statement a bit. What I am trying to say is that there was just as many cars at this race as there normally was for the IHRA events even without PS. With the exception of the first race, Stock and SS has been decent car counts for an inaugural series, I think what will kill it is the dismal turnouts in the other categories. Most others have had less than 10 in a class. I'm supportive of what Rich is trying to do but unfortunately I think other people like myself only have so much time and running a full schedule of Nationals and division races is all the time I have.
