Hello racers,
I am in the market for a new single or dual disc clutch setup, and would like to hear if anybody here has made the switch from a 10.5" softloc to a single 8" and/or dual 7" and what kind of gains did you notice. Also my old dual channel tach is dead so I was hoping for advice on a good data logger. Dont need a bunch of channels yet, but may in the future.... So if you can recommend ones to look at, i would appreciate it. Thanks, Kirk |

Single 8 Or dual 7 can be good. However, it is important to consider your combination before anyone could say for sure. In my experience with small block stickers that soft locks are very reliable, but the lighter and smaller combos were quicker once we stuck with them long enough to figure them out.
I think you should really consider the Racepak sportsman for data logging. Priced right and easy to use, easy to upgrade and add sensors to

Two seasons ago, I went from a soft-lok to an Advanced Clutches dual 7-inch.One of the best upgrades I've made.At the end of a couple of test sessions,I went 6 hundredths quicker in the 60 than my previous best. And being new to sticks back then, just as important to me was Robs technical assistance,I'd call him from the track and he would pick up the phone.Still does, thank God,lol!
He also just came out with a new 8-inch single that would be a option you might look at. I've heard the first guys that ran it are very happy with it. Good luck! |

Thanks Rod and Dana.....I looked at his website
Does anybody here have experience they will share with the single 8" clutch mentioned as far as performance/ service life compared to a 10.5 softloc? Do they last longer, same, or less number of runs? I am going to assume the dual 7" will last longer as you have more surface area. |

Hi Kirk, here is what the new 8” looks like. The new design 8 is meant to be more forgiving than previous models. The thought behind them is you can slip them more on the line and the clutch having more levers on it, it allows it to catch back up. So it should be a really good clutch on marginal tracks. Also it’s light weight like the 7 that is being referred too. I believe it’s same or lighter. You would have to research that. Don’t think the cost is much different. Good luck with your program.
