Here's how I remember it. Stage I was a de facto term but NOT for the 1962 413. In mid 1963, Chrysler enhanced the 426 with bigger carbs and a couple of other improvements and called it a Stage II thus the early '63 became the de facto Stage 1. The '64 motor was the Stage III.
As an aside, NHRA never allowed the larger carbs on the '63 models. Al Corda, the LS guy |
