If you are not over 70' you don't need a permit.
http://wwwsp.dotd.la.gov/Business/Pa..._a_Permit.aspx Go to the website, click on Truck Permits and then you can download rules and regulations. I found it on page 10 I believe, it was an exception for recreational vehicles.
