What would be the harm to anyone for opening the race to new entries, other than taking in more money?

What Mike Fuller said, this is a way of NHRA punishing you for not entering & sitting around in the rain for 3-4 days. You cost NHRA money because you did not enter & your $160 entry fee would have been earning them interest for the next 3 or 4 months. NHRA = no common sense, should have postponed the race but instead got a record LOW number of entries for the Indy pts. race. This may be good for the few that are entered but not so good for the racers that have to make the long haul to National Trails, or have to take more time off to race.

I thought the postponed race was going to be run in front of the 2nd points meet at Indy in August. I haven't seen where they moved it to National Trail but I could be wrong.

You are correct, I was thinking the only pts meet in August was trails & BG.

From Div 3 website

Heavy rains during the night Saturday caused flooding of the property especially in the shut down area of the facility. The Lucas Oil Raceway at Indianapolis Staff along with the North Central Division Certification team worked during the night to try to keep up with the high waters but were unsuccessful and Mother nature won the battle. Qualifying for the event is complete and the fields are set for all classes. The continuation of the event will take place August 10th in conjunction with the August 11-13 NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series event. All classes will receive one time trial starting at 8AM and will be called by class. Once every class receives 1 time trial. eliminations will begin and the event will run until complete on Thursday. After eliminations are complete the track will operate a test n tune for competitors that arrive for the August 11-13 event once the April event is complete. Schedule for the August 11-13 will be out soon.

That race is in Indy...Columbus is the week before. I think......
