alternator problem

I have a late model fuel injected lt1. My alternator has a 60 amp inline fuse with a #10 wire back to the battery. It keeps blowing the fuse at random times. I am not to good at wiring. any suggestions on where to start? It is a nice B/SA car. do i have to run the alternator? could alternator be bad? One of your other questions, yes you do have to run the altenator if you run Stock eliminator.
