2017 WNYSRA season....

Hey folks. The Western NY Super Rod Association is planning our 2017 season and we are looking for some input from potential racers. It's looking like our races again will be doubles (Sat/Sun) events with three of these weekends at Empire Dragway in NY. Our fourth event is yet to be determined but we would like to try to get one scheduled at possibly Numidia Dragway in PA or Thompson Dragway in OH. Other tracks would be of consideration also.

We are currently working on sponsorship for this series and are entertaining having a racer discount if the racer can provide a associate sponsor ($400). Our previous format was a $75 entry and a $25 Calcutta. This would yield a winners purse in the $1000-1400 range. If we self fund we may raise this to $125 for the folks who do not bring an associate sponsorship. In my case I would pay the $400 for Racers for Rescues to be an associate.

Our thoughts are this...
We are trying to sign a major sponsorship. If we can, we could pay either a larger purse per race or a deeper and larger points championship. Of these two options what would as racers your opinions be? Would you rather race for $2000 each race day or for a $2500 points championship. Bare in mind these are figures used to initiate discussion and depend on our ability to secure a sponsor.

The thought of a higher race purse may attract racers from a greater distance. But the thought of a higher points payout may keep them coming.

Any input is much appreciated.

Sucks I have a race at Numidia on the same weekend as Pittsburgh as we could have done a North vs. South Shootout.

I know Rob. Unfortunately that one is in my backyard and has a bonus on Sunday. I was really looking forward to going back to Numidia.
