Billy is right. I learned, if I ever go back to Chicago, to lock my motor home and trailer when I go up to make a run. Won't go back there, so it won't be an issue. Never caught anybody coming out of my motor home anywhere else. A guy parked across from me ran a guy out of my trailer while I was gone once also. He said "Your not from around here, are you?"

To help with pit space the first thing NHRA should do is limit all Pros to one trailer per car. No more support trailers and restaurants. This would help with the cost for all teams and put them on a more equal playing field.

Great idea, but never gonna happen. And now they are going to bring in the Jet cars, OH BOY!!!!!!!! ---NOT. I am not sure of space at other tracks, but at Pacific Raceways for the Northwest Nationals several of the pros have to park outside the Pro pits. This takes away quite a bit of space from the sportsman racers.

James, can you tell us how you really feel. Lol. Aren't you glad you don't live somewhere like Wyoming where the tracks are all close to each other.
The real problems are Time, Entertainment, $$$$$, TV, Exec. payroll and concern. As for the Sportsman, where else can you spend four days and nights visiting friends, working on your car, watching the Pros, getting maybe three time trials and then actual racing in your ,say 11 second car. Lets see that is a total of 33 seconds in time trials and 11 seconds of competition, or more if you win the first round. WOW, what a deal, and it only cost you about $300 or more. More than anything I was thinking it would be nice to have a full bracket. This year in SS and Stk about half the races have quotas under 64 cars. I just thought it would be cool to have a full field. If there were only 50 cars at an event wouldn't there be a bye run in rounds 2, 3 and 4?
The SS car I drive for my dad is pretty quick, I've never set a National Record but I'm not worried about missing a qualified field. We've been working for years to perform the way we do, I know I couldn't do what I do without his help - thanks dad (and happy birthday!). We've been in a position where we needed to win class to make a qualified field. We've been bumped out by lower qualified class winners. I know what an accomplishment it is to be fast and I know what it feels like to lose a heads up race. At my first NHRA race Terry Pearson crushed me in R1 heads up race. We comp race, so I know a little about what it's like to show up for a gunfight with a sharp stick! It might even be cool if NHRA could give you something for qualifying at a national event (a shirt, or a sticker, not cash - save that for the guys who make it to Sunday), and if you don't qualify there's no reason to penalize someone, let them transfer their entry to another race. I'd rather see NHRA encourage racers to perform rather than earn grade points. But, I can understand what they're trying to accomplish. Sorry for the rambling post. |

Non qualifiers had their three strikes at the plate, there needs to be a little sting if you DNQ. Practice makes .............. Been there and done that, DNQ always left a real bad taste in my mouth. Patsy said it made me real "Cranky"
