The reason the number of cars allowed to enter is limited per event is because of pit space. There was a time when over a thousand cars entered The Nationals at Indianapolis. Back then racers either drove their race cars to the track, tow barred their race cars or pulled them on an open trailer. Today the pits are full because of gigantic motor homes pulling tri-axle trailers and thats just for the Sportsman racers. The Pro pits with their multiple tractor trailer rigs per team take up what used to be shared with Sportsman racers. Limiting the number of race cars per event was the only answer to lack of pit space caused by huge rigs.

Why not take in part of the spectator parking area to put racers in. They make more money from a racer than an average spectator.

Parking the motorhomes in a remote place even within the track would more than likely lead to theft and break-ins unless there was security. And NHRA isn't going to pay for that.

Billy is right. I learned, if I ever go back to Chicago, to lock my motor home and trailer when I go up to make a run. Won't go back there, so it won't be an issue. Never caught anybody coming out of my motor home anywhere else. A guy parked across from me ran a guy out of my trailer while I was gone once also. He said "Your not from around here, are you?"

To help with pit space the first thing NHRA should do is limit all Pros to one trailer per car. No more support trailers and restaurants. This would help with the cost for all teams and put them on a more equal playing field.

Great idea, but never gonna happen. And now they are going to bring in the Jet cars, OH BOY!!!!!!!! ---NOT. I am not sure of space at other tracks, but at Pacific Raceways for the Northwest Nationals several of the pros have to park outside the Pro pits. This takes away quite a bit of space from the sportsman racers.
