Anybody else remember when NHRA let the Divisions decide by vote if electronics would be legal to use in bracket classes? All were in favor except Div. #1. Sure wasn't a level playing field when meeting up with Div. #3 guys. I think it was like two years before they changed it to match.

Defining bracket racing.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bracket_racing

This is from Wikipedia.

Dial-in[edit]
Each car chooses a dial-in time before the race, predicting the elapsed time the driver estimates it will take his or her car to cross the finish line. This is usually displayed on one or more windows so the starter can adjust the "christmas tree" starting lights accordingly. The slower car in the race is given the green light before the faster car by a margin of the difference between their two dial-in times.

In principle, if both drivers have equal reaction times and their cars run exactly their posted dial-ins, both cars should cross the finish line at precisely the same time. In reality, this is an extremely rare occurrence. Measuring devices both at the start and at the end of the track post times down to 1/100000 of a second (0.00001s precision), which makes tied races almost impossible.

Some forms of bracket racing (NHRA Competition Eliminator, NHRA Stock groups) have cars classified by type, and the dial-in time is based on the type of car that is entered.

No one ever said why it would not be fair to have both cars loose. You both screwed up - simple - you both loose - it should not be who screwed up the least.

IMHO

Because it is a competition, one wins and one loses.

You all crack me up. Stock Eliminator is not stock anymore. You all cried and whined for rule changes through out the last 40 years, just a bunch of whiners and cry babies. Now there is a new possible rule and it seems that only the fast people are bitchin. Why don't you all just race and shut the hell up. If NHRA wants a change they will do it, they do not need your approval and sure as heck they do not listen to your opinions. What used to be the fast guys are not anymore with the newer cars. Some of you whiners are just loaded with cash and don't have a clue anyway. You talk about a performance based category and then turn around and try to change things to fit your own agenda. Bunch of kittens.

Ron. Ron , I have not seen any whiner or criers . Just racers speaking up for their own agenda which is normal in my world

As I understand it, "first" applied if both cars broke the same rule like red light or center line and "worst" applied if two different rules were broken in the same pass like red lighting against a CJ that crosses the center line. Center line is the "worse" infraction so red light wins.

As a bracket rookie working to be a GT/MA rookie, I reiterate my support for TruStart.
