Default 1968 HEMI Dodge Dart

Here's the story...Bought a 1968 Dart 270 from a restoration shop in Florida. It was destined to be a Pro Street machine with an all aluminum Indy HEMI. Story goes that the owner was displeased with the potential power and torque of the new HEMI and decided to cease the whole project. Said he didn't want to do what it would take to keep the car from buckling under the torque of the new mill.

When I found it, it was a rolling shell with an incomplete motor. Body was painted 2007 Dodge Charger Sublime Green and that was all. No glass. No interior. No brakes. No fuel system. Nothing. Just what I wanted! Now I could build a world class HEMI Dart with nothing but the best components.

Here's what went into the project:

ENGINE
Indy Cylinder Heads Indy Maxx aluminum HEMI block stroked to 572 cid
Indy 426-1RA ported aluminum heads
Comp Cams cam and solid roller lifters
Indy mid-rise dual quad aluminum intake
Holley 1000 cfm 4150 carbs
Crower forged crankshaft
Oliver con rods
Ross pistons
Milodan oil system with external oil supply and return lines
Mopar Performance oil pump
Star vacuum pump kit
MSD billet distributor w/crank trigger
TTI headers
Moroso oil accumulator
Powermaster chrome alternator
Engine plate and mid-plate
Northern double-pass radiator with Sidewinder puller electric fan

TRANSMISSION
Torqueflite 727 case
Ultra Bell bell housing
Lofgren Auto Specialties custom tranny blanket
Griner Engineering reverse pattern valve body with transbrake and “safe neutral” (P,N1,2,3,N)
Billet everything (internals)
Ultimate Convertor Concepts 8” torque convertor - 5500 stall
Precision Performance Products shifter
Just-N-Time tunable transbrake release
Flex-a-Lite tranny cooler with fan

DRIVETRAIN
Strange Engineering driveshaft
Strange engineering 4.56 pro gears with spool
St range Engineering gun drilled 40 spline axles
Strange Engineering big U joints
TA Performance Dana 60 housing
Dana 60 center section

FUEL SYSTEM
Aeromotive pump w/return
10 gallon polished aluminum fuel cell
Steel braid lines throughout

WHEELS/TIRES/SUSPENSION/CHASSIS
Innovative Metal Works SFI cert 7.5 cage (still valid)
Chris Alston steering column with extended quick steering release
Grant pro steering wheel

Strange Engineering spindles

ELECTRONICS
MSD Digital 7 spark controller

BRAKES
Strange Engineering rotors front and rear
Strange Engineering calipers front and rear
Wilwood dual master cylinders

BODY/INTERIOR
Pro Glass full Lexan window kit including windshield
LO23 HEMI dart window lifts (front)
2007 Dodge Charger Sublime Green
Custom rear bumble bee stripe (Dart Swagger)
All steel body except for fiberglass front and rear bumpers, hood
Custom door panels and rear panels
Full lightweight carpet
Kirkey racing seats (two)
RJS five point racing harness

No expense was spared. This is one of the finest HEMI Darts you will find anywhere. Bar none. And here's the best part: the motor has less than 12 passes on it. I licensed in the car in 2014, raced it four times in 2015, and now it's time to put it in your shop. Why am I selling this amazing machine? It’s simple, really. This level of racing is one step beyond where I want to be and I need to ratchet it back a notch. Buy it. Race it. Hard.

Performance: 9.18 @ 146 (easy pass)

NOTE: Car is located in southern Minnesota. PM me for more info or to discuss.

My best was 9.18 @ 146 and I wasn't leaning on it.
