Question Best lifter?

I would like to know what lifters people recommend for a sbc Hyd stocker combo. I am putting it back together and don't want to use the shubecks. I have a new cast iron cam that has been nitrated. I would like recommendations and can you use them from cam to cam? Is there a break in process? Thanks

Robert

What is that suppose to mean? Seems like a contradiction of terms or is that their interpretation of a hydraulic lifter?

I use precision products performance center(PPPC) tool steel lifters, they oil the rockers right( don't flood) and have ran them 450+ runs with 475lbs springs.
Break in required, using 1409Xpac spring' I break in with stock LS springs, was using break in rockers but springs now have too much pressure, break in rockers won't drop it low enough to be safe.
springs are easy to change installed height set, so just pop LS off and 1409X right back on.
If lifter has .015'' travel it is considered "hydraulic".

You can refinish some tool steel lifters to allow them to be used on a different camshaft, they must be sent back to the lifter manufacturer. In order to be able to move a tool steel lifter to a different camshaft or lobe, it would need to be DLC coated. You cannot run DLC coated lifters on a cast iron core cam. You can use un-coated tool steel lifters on a cast iron camshaft, whether the camshaft has been nitrided or not.

I use Trend lifters.

Using PPPC coated lifters on steel cam so far so good! I still keep my fingers crossed.

Comp will ask you what core you want. I'd say 90% of the flat tappet guys run a stock diameter cast iron core, I think Comp calls their premium core a P55 Lobe Lock. They offer gas plasma nitride as an upgrade on the cast iron cores. Yes, the core has its own part number, you'll see it on the card.
