Default Re: Purchasing race car in Canada

I am originally from Canada and brought my race car down as well just recently purchased my next project from Canada. You will need a clear title (Provinces use the registration as the title). Also, you will need to contact the manufacturer to get a compliance letter. Canadian safety and emission rules have always been more strict so compliance should not be an issue, just a formality. You should be able to google search for the phone number. Assuming the car was made in US or Canada there are no duties and taxes are paid when you title it in your state, nothing to pay at the border. I always crossed as the Buffalo Peace Bridge and they are extremely helpful, you can call the US CBP office there and speak to a vehicle importation agent.
If the car doesn't have a clear title not sure you'd be able to bring it over, never tried.

Hope this helps.
