Hey guys, got a new setup in my car. Going to run super street next year and was curious as to what some base settings were on the throttle stop timers. 1k horse motor. Any info would be appreciated

Welcome to the Dark Side, we'll need some more info on your combination (engine, trans, and car). A good starting number for your stop if your using one is .020 depends on your HP for the finish number.

Car weight is 3100 with me in it, motor is 540, just a touch under 1000hp, Powerglide trans. Have air operated stop, also have shift timer and all that good stuff

Start at .020 pull the motor down to some where in the 3800 to 4200 rpm range. Your going to be on the stop for a good amount of time probably 3sec or more. Some with the same power could help more in that area. Good luck and have fun

I see your post was from feb 2015. I am curious what did you end up with in the timer. I would have gussed .020, 3800 dead stall 3.90 second # 10.90 @ 158 sea level

my guess would be more like .90@146-148 in a 3100# car doing it as you guys suggested maybe more mph if stopped in high gear earlier in run. or if injected stopping to an idle....btw most 540's are more like 700-900hp to the wheels. just my .02cents

I have 850hp 3200lb car 3800rpm dead stall and car goes 10.90 @ 148 with .020 & 3.25 that's why i guessed he would be much faster. Tony67

.050 on stop, shift into high at 2.00 and off the stop at 2.85. Dead stall at 2300 and my colt goes 10.90's at 150. If I up the dead stall it seems to not want to repeat. My timers are set so much different than my competitors that they can't figure if they should trust their dial.
