Not that ESPN couldn't be better about race coverage with at least a token amount of time showing some of ALL competition levels when possible, but to their credit they did point out in about 30 seconds worth of coverage Sunday what they said was the "slowest race car on the property", the yellow '86 Tempo running Stock as a Topaz.
I guess its a start...

Maybe next year the new station will know the difference between drag racing, tennis and baseball.

We watched espn3 all day on the computer and it was pretty good. If they didn't have sound on, we listened to the audiocast.

They will not cut away from a late-running tennis match or baseball game to show drag racing, no matter what network it is.

I had to reluctantly agree with this (and still do) but then I remembered an incident within the last year that went beyond this.

There was the sporting event that ran OT, and they had a half hour show scheduled afterward which was strictly talking about sports. No event in it at all. The game ran at least 45 minutes overtime, after which they ran the whole 30 minutes of talking about sports before they showed the race.

It seems to me an actual sporting event should always take precedence over a talk show.

I thought it was very cool that they did that. I agree that they should fill some of the dead space with Sportsman class notes and cool stories.
