I'm not understanding why someone would want to run their car and trigger THEIR OWN combo for HP increase? I can see going fast at Indy and I can see going fast in a heads-up race, that make sense. Going fast all the time and triggering your OWN COMBO where you've spent a lot of time and money to make it go fast is sorta like shooting your self in the foot, no? Especially when everyone knows you have fast car anyway and you have nothing to prove.

As far as being protested, I would think it's an ego booster that my competitors think I'm so fast I may be illegal.

If I had a 69 Camaro in the garage and thinking of building it for stock it wouldn't be the 396 combo I would build especially when you have somebody that continues to pound the combo. I would build a Corvette that is an easier combo.

Just some thoughts.

Fred, you obviously do not know the rules for Stock and Super Stock! With mindshaft conditions, nobody gets horsepower unless you go -1.20 under! And no B/SA went that fast!!

Here's some thoughts for you, build one and run it the way you want! Then let someone tell you what you should be doing with YOUR car.

I thought this class is a performance oriented type racing. I have heard so many times this isn't a bracket class. So a guy performs to the best of his ability and its frowned upon. I'm confused.

Not by most of his fellow racers he isn't.

I'm somebody who runs the same combo as Jim. I ain't mad at him. I'm impressed. I probably can't get within 2 tenths of that number in those conditions. He knows there are plenty of turds out there like me to keep the avg down and it's his car. So he can do as he pleases, unless it's 1.20 under, of coarse. Besides, none of this data counts, so what's the fuss over? Build that camaro Fred, you'll find out real quick this combo ain't soft to begin with

Right now Jim's car is the yardstick that everyone with a carb strives to be better than. Sherman's 'Vett is way past bad fast, and like Jim's car Is correct. Sherman pulled a piston and went through the rest of the teardown with flying colors. Two fast cars that pass Indy teardowns. Wonder how much the cars are?

Allen Sherman is used to 4000' air as well. It's always fast.
