James it already has....!! Without your help...!
IHRA says they are Class Cars .

Know of two new Pure Stocker are being built as we speak.
Duster and a Firebird..
Got quite a following.. go see Pure Stock Photo Gallery.

Todays IHRA Pure Stockers are the same Stock Eliminator rules from 1974 to 1988 or so.

After that rules changed to allow any Spring and duration.
Lift being the only limitation.
That was to ease the Tech Tear Downs inspections.

James do you also have it out for the Crate Motor dudes too ?

NHRA tried Pure Stock years ago. Really Pure Stock, cheaper than what you are trying to do. Had low car counts similar to what you have, although not as low. Dropped them due to lack of interest. Don't hold your breath until they try it again. IHRA is more desperate for cars.

There would be a lot more if both bodies accepted them.
Plus they did not have a advocate pushing it !

I normally just read this forum, but feel like I have to jump in and agree with Dan here.

I've been wanting to make a jump into stock for along time, was always my favorite class since I was a kid. Cost has always been a limiting factor of course. Been sticking to brackets and SST.

That being said, I've been doing alot of reading up on Pure Stock and think its the perfect entry point. I have been seriously considering building a pure stocker for some time.

Only problem is the number of races near me. More NHRA here than IHRA. It doesn't make much sense to put the money in another car for the amount of travel and lack of races at the moment.

However, if nhra picked it up it would be a no brainer! It would definitely be a tipping point for me.

Also, it would be cool to jump in with a pure stocker, then when budget allows, crank the same car up to a full traditional stocker on down the road

Just my .02....

Actually, Ed, IHRA's Pure Stock is much more like NHRA's second edition Stock Eliminator that started in 1972.

FWIW
Today I am writing NHRA to ask them to add Pure Stock to Stock Eliminator.

Hope they return my email.

Yes, I had one back then. Set a couple of records with it.
NHRA Pure stock never had much of a car count either.
They won't add it back now.

Maybe they will if enough of us ask!
Ed please help and spread the word.

Fwiw....one of the other blogs was about the future of Stock.
Well this is one answer to save Stock bringing back Pure Stock.
Use or mod the IHRA rules to make it better.

There is a building interest and get a good bit of emails.
Every track I go to racers are talking about Pure Stock.
They want to run Stock and not enough budget or time for a full Stocker.
Me I like the economy of the class. Such as using pump high test.
Putting the car back on the street is fairly easy.

Two weeks ago at Empire Raceway four of us met and had a great conversation!
Two were building new Pure Stockers.
Got to meet the owner of the rocking quick A/PS Belvedere.

One last thing.
Stock has a following and racers that want to compete.
Some of us can put a little in at a time to make it more competitive.
I raced my 1995 ImpalaSS in ECIRS for several years.
Got it to run quick enough to run under the index.

I did not have room for a trailer at home.
So drove the car to the tracks changing tires.

This is a great opportunity waiting to happen.
Especially the young kids with the hot new cars.

All of us Pure Stocker racers..please add your voice.
Send a letter to NHRA asking them to add Pure Stock.

Then let's kick some butt!

Dan
