RIP Mike. I had the pleasure to meet Mike Keown and Conway Witten the first time I went to Bowling Green and Indy. I had problems with my engine at the Bowling Green race. Conway found us a place to pull the engine and we took the engine to Mikes shop. Mike worked around the clock to rebuild the engine. He honed the block and went through the heads. We started at about 10 am and finished about 8 am the next morning. Conway got the parts for us. What a great bunch of guys.
Mike built some of the fastest stuff out there. Now him and John L. Are bench racing again.

This describes Mike perfectly! A picture of he and is 69 L/S Camaro convertible on facebook brough him back to mind. While an Indianan; I believe he was still part of the Louisville Stock Super/Stock mafia. What a great guy!

Mike Keown Power is the reason MANY of the Louisville,Ky. based suerstockers ran so well. Mikes shop was located in Indiana, just a stones throw across the bridge from Louisville. Mike was a former D-3 champion long before I started racing. Mike worked alongside Harry Magers and John Lingenfelter in his early days. …..Although he never built me an engine, I dynoed at Mikes shop for years. It’s hard to believe it’s been seven years since his passing. Man, I miss hearing all of his stories and working on the dyno past midnight….God Bless you Mike !!!!
