Pro mod has already gone to EFI. Replacing carbs for EFI, unless it's a multiport intake system, will look pretty much the same, like this.
http://www.sonnysracingengines.com/i...-1c72-d040.jpg This is basically a multiport sistem, with a plenum and dual throttle bodies: http://www.dragzine.com/image/2015/0...e-manifold.jpg

In case you missed it...
this was worth reading about the rules change, and reported before it happened http://www.enginelabs.com/news/nhra-...-to-pro-stock/ after the weekend this report http://www.enginelabs.com/news/nhra-...gy-on-details/ I cringed at the idea of blown pro stock cars, and am glad that didn't happen. So I better get out and enjoy some 11,500 rpm shifting, before 2015 is over! Last edited by Don Sofranko; 07-27-2015 at 04:38 PM. Reason: spelling |

Some may be too young to remember or even know that Pro stockers were at point races and oh they did a lot of match races.

2016 Pro Stock EFI requirements are up on nhraracer.com. Wow this has obviously been in the works for a long time. OEM style hoods and coil packs on Pro Stock.....Wow!
And the costs look like less than buying a couple high end PS carbs! Wonder what it will do to their performance???

This is what I was afraid of,,,,,, not the idea of Pro/Stock going to EFI,, but being restricted to one manufacturers' units. Theres a lot of EFI vendors and products out there, but I guess Holley ( not that theres anything wrong with their product) cut the big deal with NHRA to make sure THEIR products would be used. Kind of takes the ingenuity out it,, like the Goodyear tire mandate as opposed to setting a tire size limit and letting all the tire companies compete for the teams' business. These race teams become cookie-cutter when their product purchasing is dictated by NHRA,, and aren't they too close to being "look alikes" already?
There could've been technical limits put on EFI in general, by the rules, and let the teams experiment with the different brands and types of EFI and eventually one system would've stood out among the others,,, now we'll never know,, too bad. My 2 cents. Danny Durham |

I like the change. I like shortening wheelie bars to create some excitement near the starting line where spectators are watching...additionally, this is where cars are at their slowest.....therefore, unlikely serious crashes. Fuel injection has had zero affect on NASCAR that I can tell. It is important that these cars at least resemble their factory counterparts. I'm just saying...

The both said the NASCAR engines still make more power with carbs and accelerate better during transient acceleration when compared to fuel injection. Holley must have paid a big fee to be the sole supplier of the FI components. The MOTEC system would have been better. |

I am sure there was money involved, but having one supplier and a rigid set of rules and parts, this will save the teams money and will be easier to monitor for tech.
