Many fond memories of that place. Only lived 20 minutes away. Aside from the remaining asphalt the entire grounds there in no way reflect the way the entire place was laid out at one time. Would flat tow my '57 wagon using my Dad's '64 Nova Wgn which had a 283 w/power glide. Jackknifed it making the turn from Rt. 22 at Adam's Diner one Sunday morning on my way to the track. Always stopped at Gene's 1900 on the way home to have a beer and play some pool with the likes of Clem LaChance, "The Mad Frenchman" and Fred Rice. Great times !

What a shame . We turned on a few win lights there in the mid 70's

Ran in Stock Eliminator with my '69 Camaro there from '74 til it closed. Was bridesmaid twice losing finals to Lee Valentine and Alan Peters. Still have my log book with the data I kept from Dover. Used to run Conn. Dragway, Lebanon Valley, and Island Dragway too from time to time, but Dover was our home track.

In 1962, when I was 15 years old, a few of my high school friends took me to Dover. It was my first time at a drag strip, and I was instantly and completely hooked on drag racing. On April 11, I turned 68 years old, and I am still a hardcore fan of the best sport in the world!

Those were the days. 1st met Lee Valentine and his Dad there back in 1968. Ran my 64 Corvette that I bought from Ray Dwyer. Bobby Herman helped me set it up using parts from his Speed Shop. Also help from Richie Shott ( Shotgun Express) and Harold "Tink" Schaeffer.

Saw my first drag racing at Dover in 1968? I still remember that day was a match race AA/GS cars. One was the Hills Brothers ? Can't remember the other one. The track closed the year I got my driver license! I had a hot Pontiac Catalina I wanted to run. Have lots of memories though plus pics & 8mm film. Today I live only few miles from track.
